We have leveraged our broad experience in Guardianship to develop a separate practice area assisting and representing retirement communities and long-term care facilities (or their parent companies) whose patients need Guardianship, Long-Term Care Medicaid benefits, or both. This representation has included dealing with benefits from Social Security, Pensions, Veterans Administration, or DFAS (Defense Finance Accounting Service), which is a separate entity from the VA. In short, we “trouble-shoot” problems with Medicaid applications or Recertifications, and develop solutions – either to start or re-start benefits. Additionally, we have formulated contracts and other documentation to help facilities collect patients’ unpaid balances.

Over the last several years, we have represented skilled nursing facilities in over fifteen different North Carolina County Courts for Guardianship Hearings and have worked with nearly a dozen county Medicaid offices.
